דבי תשלח טקסט מקדים
Ethidium bromide stock: 1mg/ml; 1mg/ml
One drop of EtBr= 50 ml
EtBr concentration in 100ml agarose gel is 0.5 mg/ml
EtBr concentration in running buffer is 0.1 mg/ml
Ethidium bromide solutions at concentration of less than 1 mg/ml are not considered hazardous waste

Biological handling waste
- All the biological waste should be disposed in a Biohazard bag for autoclave.
- Biological waste includes: plastic/pipetts/tips from tissue culture, bacteria, viruses, parasites, blood, animal or human tissues, fungi.
- Sharp instruments in touched with biological material should be disposed in Sharp bin container.
- The biohazard and sharp bin container will be autoclaved.
- The disinfection autoclave process can be done by the Department (‘in house”) or by an external company (Tabib). Each Department organize its own process. Tabib collects the Biological waste once a week from the Yellow containers.
Sincerely,
Dr. Debora Rapaport, PhD

Work practices |
---|---|---|---|
Laboratories in which work with microorganisms are conducted in a BSL-2 laboratory with biosafety procedures typically found at BSL-3.
The risk assessment process, may determine that safety practices, over and above those required at BSL-2 needed for a research project, yet a more complex BSL-3 laboratory facility is not necessary. |
Agents that pose moderate hazard to personnel and environment. Agents that are associated with human disease. Treatments are available. Example: Human or Primate Cells, Blood or any human body fluids, Patient specimens. Herpes Simplex Virus, HIV, Salmonellae, Hepatitis B, Listeria, Infected animals with BSL-2 agents. |
Well characterized agents Agents. Not known/unlikely to cause disease, in healthy human adults, immunocompetent adults, and present minimal hazard potential, to laboratory personnel and to the environment. Prophylactic treatment available. Example: E. coli (K-12 strains), yeast |
