Biography

Prof. Kalter-Leibovici is a certified medical doctor and a specialist in endocrinology. She worked as an endocrinologist until 1994 at the Institute of Endocrinology and Diabetes, at Schneider Children Medical Center, in Petach-Tikva, Israel. Since 1994 she worked as a senior researcher at the Gertner Institute in Sheba Medical Center, Sheba Medical Center, in Tel-Hashomer, Israel, and between 2000-2023 she was the director of the Cardiovascular Epidemiology Unit at Gertner. She has expertise in conducting population-based epidemiological surveys and clinical trials. Her topics of research include prevalence and risk factors of cardio-metabolic diseases, including lifestyle factors; health disparities in Israel with a special focus on the Arab ethnic minority, and testing health programs, e.g. disease management and lifestyle interventions, in clinical trials. She is an Associate Professor at the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, School of Public Health, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, Tel Aviv University, where she has been teaching undergraduate medical and graduate students.   

Research Interests

The topics of interest include prevalence and risk factors of cardio-metabolic diseases, with a special focus on the metabolic syndrome, obesity, diabetes and lifestyle factors; health disparities.
