Biography

Professor Froom, originally from the United States, is board-certified in both Hematology and Occupational Medicine. He served in the Israeli Air Force Aero Medical Center many years. Prof. Froom holds his medical degree from Creighton University and undergraduate degree from Stanford University, as well as a Masters of Occupational Health from Tel Aviv University.

 

Known as a world leader in urine analysis testing, Prof. Froom has changed physician behavior toward the finding of microscopic hematuria. As the author of more than 200 peer-reviewed articles, he recently published articles dealing with quantitative risk assessment for divers exposed to polluted water. Throughout his career, he has supervised many graduate and post-graduate students at TAU.

 

Research

Prof. Froom's four main areas of research:

  • laboratory medicine
  • evidence-based hospital practice
  • basic epidemiology methodology
  • occupational and environmental diseases

 

He conducts applied research into who to test, what to test for, and the clinical utility of such testing.
