Professor Yariv Gerber was appointed Chair of the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at Tel Aviv University in September 2015. Previously, he served as Academic Advisor for the Master’s Programs in Epidemiology (MSc) and Public Health (MPH) from 2007-2015, and chaired the School of Public Health Thesis Committee from 2011-2013.
Prof. Gerber obtained his Bachelor's degree (cum laude) in Physical Education and Sport Sciences from Wingate College in 1997, and subsequently earned his PhD degree (direct track) in Epidemiology at Tel Aviv University in 2003. After the completion of his PhD, he joined the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine (Rochester, Minnesota) in 2004 where he completed a 2-year postdoctoral training program in Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology. In 2006, he returned to Tel Aviv University and joined the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, Sackler Faculty of Medicine, as Senior Faculty member.

Prof. Gerber has co-authored over 80 peer-reviewed papers (see publications) and has been the recipient of several prestigious competitive research grants in Israel and abroad.
