Weight loss dependent and independent effects of weight loss surgery

Bariatric, or weight loss surgery induce wide-ranging metabolic, endocrine and neuronal changes in the body. We use surgery as a tool to study translational and basic biology. I will present data on two projects: how  bariatric surgery induces a reduction in diabetes and fatty liver, and how maternal surgery affects embryonic growth and offspring metabolism.
