תחומי מחקר

 

נושאי המחקר העיקריים שלנו הם הקשר בין דלקת לסרטן ןתפקידם של תאים במיקרו-סביבה של הגידול בשלבים השונים של התפתחות סרטן-החל מהשלבים הראשונים ועד התפתחות גרורות.

 

למרות שרב מקרי המוות מסרטן הםכ תוצאה מהתפתחות גרורות, ולא מהגידול המקורי, מעט מאוד ידוע על המיקרו-סביבה של הגרורות. מחקר והבנה של מסלולי תקשורת מולקולאריים בין תאי הגידול לתאי המיקרו-סביבה יאפשרו פיתוח תרופות חדשות המשלבות טיפול בסביבת הגידול.

 

אנו חוקרים נושאים אלה תוך שימוש במודלים של עכברים טרנסגניים. המודל העיקרי שלנו הוא מודל של סרטן שד, השולח גרורות לריאות.
