פרופסור יוסף משהראוי הוא חוקר ומרצה בכיר בחוג לפיזיותרפיה, הפקולטה לרפואה ע"ש סאקלר.

פרופסור משהראוי הוא פיזיותרפיסט מוסמך אקטיבי מומחה לשיקום אורטופדי בכלל ולעמוד שדרה בפרט, בעל תואר שני בפיזיותרפיה מנואלית/אורתופדית מאוניברסיטת דרום אוסטרליה, ותואר שלישי מהחוג לאנטומיה בתחום עמוד שדרה, מאוניברסיטת ת"א. את הפוסט-דוק יוסף השלים במרכז לעמוד השדרה בדנמרק. הוא הקים ומנהל את המעבדה לחקר עמוד השדרה  בפקולטה לרפואה ומחקריו עוסקים בחקר מבנה ותפקוד עמוד השדרה ומפרקים נלווים במצבים נורמאליים ופתולוגיים. הוא פרסם כ-70 מחקרים בינלאומיים עד כה (2020) בעיתונים מובילים בתחום האורטופדי ועמוד השדרה. פרופ' יוסף מקיים שיתוף פעולה מחקרי עם חוקרים בכירים בחוגים אחרים בפקולטה לרפואה ובפקולטות נוספות באוניברסיטת תל אביב ע"מ להתמודד באופן רב-מקצועי עם שאלות מגוונות  הקשורות לעמוד השדרה כולל בתחום הגנטי, ביומכני, מורפולוגי ושיקומי.

 

יוסף הוא חבר נלווה במערכת העיתון היוקרתי Spine וסוקר בעיתונים רבים אחרים בתחום עמוד השדרה. הוא מלמד מאז 1996 בחוג לפיזיותרפיה קורסים רבים בתחום השיקום האורטופדי וחשיבה קלינית בתואר ראשון וקורס מבנה ותפקוד עמוד השדרה בתואר שני.

 

מתוך הבנה שחוקר טוב הוא חוקר המשלב בין מציאות לבין מעבדה, יוסף מנחה סטודנטים לתואר שני ותואר שלישי במגוון הנושאים הקשורים להבנת מבנה ותפקוד עמוד השדרה ורוב הנחיותיו לסטודנטים מתבססים על שאלות שנובעות מהשטח הקליני. הוא מאמין שקלינאי טוב צריך להבין את מהות הבעיה ומכאן שיש צורך בביסוס מחקרי של הכלים העומדים בידי המשקם. הרבה ממחקריו של יוסף נעשים בשטח תוך שימוש בציוד מחקרי נייד.

Biography

Youssef Masharawi is an Associate Professor  in the Department of Physical Therapy at Tel Aviv University. He is a an active physiotherapist, clinically specialized in the orthopedic domain in general and in the spine disorders in parrticularly, as a manipulative physiotherapist. In his Ph.D., he analyzed the morphometry of the vertebral column with biomechanical implications. Prof. Masharawi established the Spinal Research Lab for clinical and functional research projects concerning the spine and related conditions. He Published more than 70 studies in  leading peer-reviewed international Journals related to the Spine and musculoskelatal disorders.He teaches undergraduate physical therapy students about the clinical reasonning process and physiotherapy in the movement system as well graduate students in the Spinal Form and Function course. Prof. Masharawi Youssef is a reviewer and a member in the Associate Board of Spine Journal and an active member in the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine.
