State-of-the-art 3D applications for surgeries - From the bench to the operating theater.

The surgical field is rapidly evolving and implementing various pre- and peri-operative 3D technologies.
Examples include printing intraoperative patient-specific instruments and reconstructing critical-sized load-bearing bone gaps with customized titanium implants having mechanical properties and a lattice scaffold to promote bone regeneration. Additional implementations include virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies for accurate and radiation-free execution of complex surgical plans. Ultimately, this knowledge will allow for optimizing patients' outcomes and the cost-effectiveness of surgical procedures.
